If you have X11 installed by clicking on the Finder menu Go->Utilities. In all recent versions of MacOS (10.6+), it should be installed by default. Pathway Tools requires that X11 be installed.It may run on earlier versions, but since these versions are no longer supported by Apple, we recommend upgrading your Mac prior to installing Pathway Tools.
